Title: Community Relations Coordinator, Energizing Economies Campaign

Position Description:
CICE has an immediate opening for a full-time Community Relations Coordinator, who will help build CICE’s network of chambers of commerce and economic development organizations in support of utility-scale solar and wind.
This position is a key member of CICE’s Energizing Economies campaign and will report to the Campaign Director.
Responsibilities:
Work with the utility-scale energy team to determine and implement engagement strategies for chambers of commerce and economic development organizations on the economic and community benefits of utility-scale clean energy projects, policies, and technologies
Cultivate and position chamber, economic development, and business executives in key states as spokespeople and messengers for the economic benefits of clean energy
Coordinate with other business-focused organizations and allies with similar goals
Work with chamber and economic leaders in campaign priority states to organize convenings and events focused on the adoption of utility-scale solar and wind projects, policies, and programs
Interview chambers to learn about their clean energy efforts and assist in drafting stories about each
Engage with local businesses directly to build sustainable support for utility-scale solar and wind projects
Help create and distribute reports and resources that highlight the economic, business, energy security, and grid reliability benefits of utility-scale solar and wind Attend chamber and economic development meetings and conferences to share CICE’s priorities, positions, and services
Take the lead in developing new opportunities for engaging local chambers about solar and other clean energy technologies.
Qualifications
Ideally, we are looking for someone with the following experience, knowledge base, and skills:
2+ years of experience in organizing, campaigning, membership, coalition building, or advocacy
Background working for or with chambers of commerce or economic development organizations—membership directors or executive directors are strongly encouraged to apply
Outgoing, with the ability to connect with diverse groups of people via phone, email, and face-to-face
Familiarity with the basics of solar and wind energy, and a strong interest in clean energy and business development
Ability to work effectively under pressure, evaluate priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong strategic mindset and proven ability to translate strategy into action
Proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and decision-making, work well both independently and as part of a team
Enthusiastic to learn and contribute to advancing clean energy
Ability to work independently in a virtual business environment using Google Workspace
Bonus points:
Institute of Organization Management (IOM) graduate recognition
Demonstrated interest in or experience with rural community affairs or rural chambers/economic development
Proficiency in interpreting economic reports, local property tax receipts, general fund revenues, and the like
Conversational knowledge of local government funding mechanisms
Interest in local politics
Comfort with public speaking, including in difficult environments such as local township trustee meetings, contentious community meetings, etc.

CICE is hiring a full-time Western Regional Director to help build CICE’s network of chambers of commerce and economic development organizations in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, and other Western states.
The Western Regional Director is a key member of CICE’s Regional Team and will report to the Director of Policy.
Position Description:
The Western Regional Director is responsible for cultivating relationships with chambers of commerce and economic development organizations within their region.
The Director works with these organizations by reaching out to develop relationships and educating them on clean energy issues, policies, and technologies, and energy economics and market trends. The Director will work to position chamber, economic development, and business executives as spokespeople and messengers for the economic benefits of clean energy in the region by organizing events, drafting public communications, and working with partner organizations and allies.
This position is supported by a team of seasoned policy, outreach, and communications professionals.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working with the Executive Team to determine and implement engagement strategies for Western states
Outreach to chamber of commerce executives and economic development leaders to build relationships and trust
Educating and engaging chamber and economic leaders on clean energy issues, economic development opportunities associated with clean energy, and–where appropriate–climate action
Organizing events and meetings with chamber and economic leaders focused on the education and adoption of clean energy policies, programs, and projects
Interviewing chambers to learn about their clean energy efforts and authoring op-eds, reports, or publications highlighting chamber leadership
Attending chamber and economic development meetings and conferences to share CICE’s priorities, positions, and services
Collaborating with the Regional Team on strategies, tactics, best practices, and opportunities for engagement
Coordinating with other business-focused organizations and allies with similar goals
We are looking for someone with the following experience, knowledge base, and skills:
5+ years experience in organizing and outreach, coalition building, or public affairs
Experience working for or with chambers of commerce or economic development organizations
Outgoing, comfortable making calls to people you don’t know, and strong at relationship building, especially with the private sector and chambers of commerce
An understanding of the economics, policies, and political sensitivities associated with clean energy
A strong strategic mindset and proven ability to translate strategy into action
Demonstrated experience handling multiple assignments simultaneously
Problem solver, with the flexibility and initiative to work independently and as part of a diverse remote team
Enthusiastic to learn and contribute to advancing clean energy
Bonus points:
Strong writer, with an understanding of the importance of communications and messaging
Experience working in clean energy or on issue campaigns
Understanding of the legislative process
Engagement with the IOM (Institute for Organizational Management) program
