Massachusetts Chambers Celebrate Energy Awareness Month
Newburyport & Cape Ann Host Clean Energy Events
as Part of Energy Awareness Month
The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry joined with Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy, Energy Source, and National Grid to celebrate energy efficiency day on October 2. The event was headlined by a proclamation at City Hall recognizing the importance of energy efficiency and began with a Main Streets canvass.
Volunteers representing the chamber hit the streets to promote energy efficiency, perform on-site energy assessments, and help local business owners connect to available programming and rebates. The team was able to visit all the businesses in downtown Newburyport and perform several audits. The Main Streets canvass is part of an ongoing Chamber energy efficiency program called the Newburyport Initiative for Conservation of Energy (NICE).
“The Chamber was proud to promote energy efficiency to our local businesses on EE day,” said Chamber VP Mark Iannuccillo. “We support local programs that help our members save money and reinvest money into their businesses.”

to Host a Solar Workshop
In Cape Ann, the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce partnered with Towngreen 2025 to host a solar workshop which educates local business owners on available solar solutions. This includes, but is not limited to, the Massachusetts run SMART program, the federal investment tax credit, solar lease program, and owning solar panels.
“We are always looking to educate our members on innovative programs that help them save money,” said Cape Ann Chamber President Ken Riehl. “The fact that these are also clean energy solutions which help the State reach our clean energy goals is just the cherry on top.”
